Zermatt Trip

05:00 AM 7/Apr/2007:
Alarm in my K750i moved me from my bed. I moved towards to my bathroom. Had my bath and then had my snacks. Since it is early time in the morning, I am not feeling like eating. Now time is 05:30 AM, door in my room was knocked by Rama. It is time for us start. Four of us (Varadha, Rama, Kiran and KK) from Citi Apartment (Place I have been staying for the last 4 months in Switzerland) moved towards Alstetton train station. We are already late by 10 minutes. Now we need to go to Zurich HB train station to board train to Zermatt. We reached Zurich HB at 6.15 and rushed to Ticket counter and got the ticket and boarded 06.32 AM train to Bern. From Bern we took a train to Brig and from Brig we took train to Zermatt. Time is now 10:35 AM. We are in one of the most unpolluted place in the world. We can't have Car in Zermatt. All vehicles are run on Battery/Electricity. We looked for hotel for the night stay in Zermatt.
But we are not able to find any. So we deiced to find some place for night stay in the foothills of Zermatt. Next day we need to get a train from Zermatt to St. Moritz. Now talk is back to Zermatt. We now got a train to go the Gornergrat. Gornergrat is at a altitude 3100m above mean sea level. We can get a good view of Matterhorn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matterhorn) from Gornergrat. While we are traveling in the train from Zermatt to Gornergrat, we had a nice view of Matterhorn.
Matterhorn is one of the best places in the World to Visit. That is what BBC survey says (Look for 46th in the in http://www.raphaelk.co.uk/main/BBC50.htm).

On reaching Gornergrat, I got a closer look at Matterhorn. Then it is time to operate the camera. For next 2 hours, went around the Gornergrat and took some nice pictures. Since this is one the best place for skiing in Alps, lots of people are skiing in this place. Since all the place is completely covered in snow, this lace is very bright and i felt a bit of stain in my eyes. But this not stopped to roam around Gornergrat.

04:00 PM: Sun is slowly dipping down behind the mountains now. It is getting dark and it is all set to go down. We have decided to go to Zermatt now. It is nearly 30 minutes journey in train from Gornergrat to Zermatt in train. On reaching train, we got a train from Zermatt to Brig. For the next day trip, since there is not availability in 2nd class of Glacier Express, we have the 1st class ticket. It cost me around (10 CHF for 1st class one day travel card + 10 CHF for reservation in Glacier Express). In Switzerland, by getting a one day travel card, we can use most of transport infrastructure for travel. It includes Train, bus, trams, boars and so on. So by getting a 1 day travel card; we can use the travel in Glacier Express train. Now back to Brig. We are able to get a room at 150 CHF for a night (3 people can share the room). For the next day we are planning to get the Glacier Express train at 11.20 AM from Brig to St. Morris.
